Jim McMahon’s live reaction to being drafted by Bears in 1982
The Chicago Bears have been searching for a true franchise quarterback for decades, one capable of leading them back to the Super Bowl.
Jim McMahon was the first (and still the only) quarterback to accomplish that feat, alongside one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history.
Heading into the 1982 NFL draft, the Bears were clearly in the market for a new signal-caller, and McMahon made it clear that he wanted to land in Chicago.
Check out this behind-the-scenes footage of McMahon reacting to the draft in real time, from his excitement at not being picked by the Baltimore Colts, to being thrilled that the Bears selected him:

McMahon went on to have a 46-15 record as the Bears’ starter, second on the team’s all-time wins list for starting quarterbacks, trailing only Jay Cutler.
