Have the Bears done enough on offense to help QB Justin Fields? (2022 Season)

If the Chicago Bears could re-do the 2021 NFL draft, it’s safe to assume they wouldn’t take Justin Fields again. General manager Ryan Poles traded Fields this offseason before he completed his rookie contract. The franchise replaced him with No. 1 overall selection Caleb Williams.

The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher recently did a re-do of the 2021 NFL draft. Mosher had the Bears taking offensive tackle Rashawn Slater with the No. 11 overall pick, who was originally taken with the 13th selection by the Los Angeles Chargers. Slater has developed into a Pro Bowl left tackle.

“The Chicago Bears grab one of the best left tackles in the NFL at pick No. 11 in Rashawn Slater,” Mosher wrote. “All he [Slater] needs to do is stay healthy, and he should return to the Pro Bowl in 2024. Adding Slater to this offensive line would give the unit a massive boost and give Caleb Williams two strong tackles to play behind.”

This Bears offense could certainly use a franchise left tackle like Slater protecting Williams’ blind side. Braxton Jones is currently in that position as a bridge-type solution. Poles also drafted former Yale offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears hope Amegadjie proves to be a long-term answer on the left side.

Fields did not get drafted in the opening round of Mosher’s re-draft.
