Why the Hall of Fame Game will be great for Caleb Williams, Bears
The NFL’s preseason opener should be a valuable learning opportunity for a young Bears team.
The NFL world will get its first look at the new-look Chicago Bears in this year’s preseason opener, as No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and company will open up this year’s exhibition slate with a matchup against the Houston Texans in this year’s Hall of Fame Game.
Williams will be leading a young Bears roster that saw plenty of new additions this offseason, and every opportunity to replicate real-game situations should be a huge win for a team that still needs plenty of growth and development before they’re ready to compete for a playoff spot.
Former Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt thinks the opportunity to play in the Hall of Fame Game is a big win for Williams and the Bears:
Whether the Bears win or lose the game, the real victory will be avoiding any major injuries and taking advantage of the game reps, particularly for Williams and the other new additions who will be counted on to play key roles for Chicago in 2024 and beyond.
