Bears land pass rusher in latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft (News)

It’s never too early to take a look at the top prospects who could be available in next year’s draft, and that’s exactly what The 33rd Team does in their latest 2025 NFL mock draft. The expectation is that the Chicago Bears will enter next offseason searching for a pass rusher to pair with Montez Sweat. Sweat is the lone proven quarterback hunter on Ryan Poles’ roster.

In this early first-round forecast, the Chicago Bears spent the No. 18 overall selection on Texas A&M edge defender Nic Scourton, giving head coach Matt Eberflus another high-upside talent at a premium position.

“Everyone is excited about the Chicago Bears” young roster after significant talent was added in the last two years,” The 33rd Team’s Ian Valentino writes. ‘However, more impact players are needed, especially on defense. Nic Scourton is relentlessly strong and flashes crafty handwork that should lead to a key complementary role across from Montez Sweat.”

Listed at 6-4 and 280 pounds, the Purdue transfer has the ideal frame to line up across Sweat in Eric Washington’s scheme. Scourton recorded 10.0 sacks at Purdue last season. His combination of physical tools and production could easily make him a first-round pick by the time next April rolls around.
