NFL edge rusher rankings: Where does Montez Sweat land?
Is the Chicago Bears’ top pass rusher one of the best in the league?
The Chicago Bears made a huge addition last season, filling one of their biggest needs by acquiring defensive end Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders at the trade deadline.
But where does Sweat rank among the league’s best edge rushers heading into the 2024 NFL season?
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell recently polled league sources to rank their top 10 players at the position, and while Sweat didn’t make that cut, he did earn honorable mention.
“Although Sweat didn’t join the Bears” squad until late October, he still finished the season leading Chicago in sacks (six) and had four tackles for loss and three passes defensed,” Barnwell wrote. ‘His length and ability to cover ground creates problems for tackles. He lifted the Bears defense last year,”” one source told Barnwell.
