Bears make it official, announce Caleb Williams signing
This year’s No. 1 overall pick has officially signed his rookie contract.
The Chicago Bears made it official Wednesday afternoon, announcing that quarterback Caleb Williams has signed his rookie contract.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Williams has signed the customary four-year deal that all rookies get, but his carries a fifth-year team option, as it does for all first-round picks.
There were reports Wednesday that a request from Williams that the Bears not be able to use the franchise tag after his rookie deal ended may have been delaying his signing, but that’s all a moot point now, as the Heisman Trophy winner has officially put pen to paper to become Chicago’s new franchise quarterback of the present and future.
