Gerald Everett impressed by Caleb Williams’ playmaking ability
The Bears’ rookie QB is already drawing praise from his new veteran teammates.
During his college career at both Oklahoma and USC, quarterback Caleb Williams became well-known for his ability to create highlight-reel plays with his athleticism and instincts outside of the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield to crate memorable moments out of potential disaster.
Only a few days into his first NFL training camp with the Chicago Bears, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft is already impressing his teammates with that ability, as veteran tight end Gerald Everett noted Thursday:
Bears TE Gerald Everett has noted Caleb Williams’ ability as an on-the-move playmaker. Good field vision combined w QB feel mixed with a pass-first mentality.
“Some guys have it naturally, Some guys have to be coached to do it. But Caleb seems like he naturally has it.”

Williams’ efforts were often overshadowed by USC’s struggling defense over the past two seasons, but that shouldn’t be the case in Chicago, where he should have one of the better defenses in the league, as well as an impressive array of offensive weapons.
Don’t be surprised if Everett isn’t the only veteran Williams impresses across the league this year with his ability to create big plays on the move.
