The Chicago Bears released their second unofficial depth chart of the preseason, this time before Week 1’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

It doesn’t look like the Bears made any significant changes in their depth chart since the Hall of Fame game. In fact, there aren’t any.
The Bears’ first depth chart heading into the Hall of Fame game is here.
No real surprises. Ryan Bates or Coleman Shelton starting center, with Bates listed first. Velus Jones Jr. or DeAndre Carter for both kick and punt return. pic.twitter.com/Y5Q71XTLY2

The biggest training camp battle for now remains at backup running back, where Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson both looked good in their reps during the Hall of Fame game. I was especially impressed by Johnson, who looked a lot more decisive and explosive than he did as a rookie.
Backup quarterback will be a fun position to monitor over the next three weeks, too. It was long presumed Tyson Bagent would be the QB2, but Brett Rypien was arguably the most impressive Chicago Bears player during the Hall of Fame game. If he carries that momentum into Saturday’s tilt against Buffalo, Bagent’s grip on the second-team gig will loosen.
