Caleb Williams, Bears starters will play in preseason game vs. Bills
Chicago Bears starters will play in Week 1’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills
Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus confirmed Thursday that healthy starters — including Caleb Williams — will playing Saturday’s Week 1 preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
Matt Eberflus says that Caleb Williams and the “starters that are available to us” (meaning not injured starters) will play at Buffalo game. There’s a “range” of plays that will be designated for this group (would not give a specific amount).

While Eberflus wouldn’t commit to how many snaps Williams will play, he said the the team wants to see a “good flow and rhythm” to the offense.

The first preseason game can’t come soon enough for Caleb Williams, who had a rougher-than-usual practice Thursday.
A few things to keep on the radar as Bears camp moves on …
— Even in 7-on-7 work, there are too many moments where the ball isn’t coming out from Caleb Williams fast enough. Sometimes not at all.
— Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker remain out, among the sidelined/injured players.…— Dan Wiederer (@danwiederer) August 8, 2024
If Williams comes out firing on the first (and maybe second?) drive of the game, any concerns noted by some of the infamously negative Bears beat reporters will be squashed.
For Bears fans, news of Chicago’s first-teamers getting reps will make for a great Saturday afternoon.
