Swing tackles are a valuable commodity in the NFL, and it’s why Chicago Bears reserve Larry Borom could spark some trade interest as teams begin finalizing their rosters for the 2024 regular season.

Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler ran through all 32 teams and identified a top trade candidate for each club, and it’s Borom who gets the nod for the Bears.

“While Borom’s versatility has showcased a player that can operate on both sides of the line, his consistency struggles have ultimately placed a performance ceiling towards his game,” Fowler wrote. “With such heavy assets allocated to younger, starting pieces up front, Borom’s youth and experience could attract teams in need of fresh legs at the position.”

It wasn’t long ago that Borom looked like a long-term option at offensive tackle for the Chicago Bears, but that time has run out. With Darnell Wright entrenched as the right tackle and Braxton Jones continuing to hold onto the left side, Borom is the odd man out. Indeed, he is the swing tackle, and GM Ryan Poles, a former offensive lineman himself, knows the value of depth at the position. But if a tackle-needy team offers Chicago a 2025 draft pick for him? Maybe the Bears will move on.

I don’t see it happening, though. Chicago has gone through a war of attrition along the offensive line during training camp. In fact, the Bears might end up keeping more offensive linemen than usual on the 53-man roster because of how beat-up they’ve been this summer.

Adding a draft pick or two for a player who’s unlikely to start is nice, but having quality depth and insurance at a critical position is a better play for the Chicago Bears.
