Rome Odunze showcased incredible playmaking skills in preseason win over Bengals (News)

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams wasn’t the only rookie who shined in the team’s Week 2 preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Wide receiver Rome Odunze, who the Bears drafted ninth overall, flashed his incredible playmaking skills during his time on the field.

Odunze ended the game with one catch for 45 yards, 16 yards rushing, and a little field awareness away from a second-quarter touchdown.

Odunze, who checked in at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds at the NFL Combine, proved he’s not just a big-bodied possession receiver. Instead, he’s a legitimate offensive weapon who the Bears have to find every way possible to get the ball in his hands.

But let’s not lose sight of why Rome Odunze was a top-10 pick: the dude was one of the best wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft, largely because of his ability to make contested catches. Check out his focus and concentration on this perfectly thrown over-the-shoulder pass down the sideline:

The Chicago Bears have an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver with veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. Now that Odunze is beginning to find his NFL legs, the passing game has a chance to be the most lethal in team history.
