Cole Kmet continues to prove he’s the ultimate team player
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet remains the ultimate team player despite not being targeted in Week 9’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet has the talent and ability to be one of the top players at his position in the NFL. The fifth-year pro is still only 25 years old, and before the last two games — both Bears losses — he was on track for a career year.
Kmet entered Week 9’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals with 27 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns, a stat line that would remain the same when the final whistle blew in Chicago’s horrendous 29-9 defeat.
Kmet had zero catches and not a single yard of offense. He wasn’t targeted in the passing game—not once. Yet, he remains the symbol of the team-first mentality trying to be built inside Halas Hall.
“I live by a saying, ‘Those who complain about how the ball bounces tend to fumble it comes their way,””
The Bears signed Kmet to a four-year, $50 million deal before the start of the 2023 season, meaning he’ll be around for a while. And that’s a great thing for this organization that suddenly needs more players with his mentality.
