Bears vs. Lions: Here's how Chicago matches up against Detroit (News)

The Chicago Bears (4-7) will travel to Detroit to take on the NFL’s darling Lions (10-1) in what may be the biggest mismatch — on paper — in the NFL this week.

I know it’s hard to accept that reality, but it’s true. The Lions are the league favorites to win the Super Bowl, while the Bears are steamrolling toward another top-10 pick in the NFL Draft.

Detroit features one of the NFL’s best coaching staffs, while the Bears are led by the bumbling Matt Eberflus and a cast of coaches who don’t even know how to communicate on the same channel on their headsets. Literally.

Detroit is a 10-point favorite for good reason. If you spent any time watching the Lions play this year, you know the product they put on the field is almost perfect. The Bears, meanwhile, have found an almost impossible number of ways to blow opportunities to win late in games, ranging from Hail Marys to blocked kicks to an overtime heartbreaker.

The numbers don’t lie, either. Check out how the Chicago Bears match up against the Detroit Lions in Week 13:

Scoring offense: Lions (1st), Bears (22nd)

Scoring defense: Lions (2nd), Bears (8th)

Passing offense: Lions (6th), Bears (29th)

Passing defense: Lions (25), Bears (13th)

Rushing offense: Lions (4th), Bears (22nd)

Rushing defense: Lions (5th), Bears (20th)

Offensive efficiency: Lions (4th), Bears (30th)

Defensive efficiency: Lions (12th), Bears (27th)

It’s almost a clean sweep in favor of the Lions in every major statistical category. Here’s to hoping the Bears don’t give their fans an upset stomach before they can enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner.

The Bears-Lions game is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 p.m EST at Ford Field on Thanksgiving.
