Fantasy expert makes bold prediction for Bears RB D’Andre Swift in 2025
Will the Chicago Bears get a breakout season from running back D’Andre Swift in 2025?
If there’s any position on the Chicago Bears’ offense that appears like it could be a weakness entering the 2025 NFL season, it’s running back.
Veteran D’Andre Swift will return as the team’s RB1 in Ben Johnson’s offense, but his leash will be short after a debut season in Chicago that fell short of 1,000 rushing yards and a career-worst 3.8 yards per carry.
Indeed, Swift was just as much of a Shane Waldron victim as the rest of the Bears’ skill players, and the 2024 offensive line didn’t do much to help him, either. But he deserves a fair share of the blame for an underwhelming first year as a Bear after signing a sizable three-year, $24 million deal in free agency.
But like all things Bears this year, it’s a fresh start for Swift and the running game. Johnson’s history of productive running backs is obvious during his time in Detroit, and with Swift facing little competition for carries at the start of the 2025 season, he’s becoming a sleeper pick for a breakout year in fantasy football.

Predicting Swift to be a top-12 running back in fantasy football this year is a bit rich for my blood, but there does exist a path for him to get there.
The most valuable stat for any fantasy football running back is touches, and if Swift can hold off Roschon Johnson and rookie Kyle Monangai in training camp and early in the season, he could challenge for one of the largest workloads in the league in 2025.
