Chiefs WR Rashee Rice likely facing multi-game suspension by NFL
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was sentenced to five years’ probation and 30 days of jail time on Thursday. The punishment stems from his involvement in a multi-car crash in 2024.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the update on X and predicted Rice is likely to receive a multi-game suspension.
Schefter added that the suspension is expected to be served this year.
Rashee Rice should resume his role as the Chiefs’ WR1 this season after missing most of the 2024 season with a knee injury. He appeared in just four games and finished last year with 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
He emerged as Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target during the second half of his rookie season in 2023. Rice totaled 79 catches for 938 yards and seven scores that year.
Now, with the emergence of 2024 first-round pick and downfield threat Xavier Worthy, Rice’s skill set as an intermediate target should flourish, assuming his suspension isn’t extreme.
This will continue to be a developing story. We’ll have updates as more information becomes available.
