Training Camp Quick Hits: Bears list 4 players on Non-Football Injury list
Chicago Bears rookies reported to 2025 training camp on July 19, with veterans set to arrive on July 22.
The first practice is slated for July 23.
As of now, the status of at least four players is up in the air:
- CB Jaylon Johnson
- QB Case Keenum
- RB Ian Wheeler
- WR Jahdae Walker
All four Chicago Bears players were placed on the non-football injury list on Saturday, which means they can’t practice with the team until they’re removed from it. The NFI list is used by teams for players who are injured away from the club and football activities.
Johnson is the biggest concern, as he’s the only starter — and a critical one — on the list. There’s been no indication that he suffered an offseason injury. Perhaps he’ll be removed from the list in a day or two, which is what’s expected at this point.
Jaylon Johnson will resume his role as the Chicago Bears’ top cornerback and arguably the team’s most important defensive player in 2025. Any type of nagging injury or missed time in training camp is worth worrying about, but we’re a long way from that right now.
We’ll have an update on his status once more news becomes available.
