WATCH: This route from Rome Odunze was absolutely unfair

There wasn’t much for Chicago Bears fans to cheer about in last week’s ugly road loss against the Detroit Lions, but hard to overstate just how good Rome Odunze continues to look.

The No. 10 overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft, Odunze has been on an absolute heater to start his second season in the league, looking like the true No. 1 target he was drafted to be for Caleb Williams.

He was responsible for most of the Bears’ best plays in Sunday’s blowout loss, including this double-move route that put a Lions defender in a blender:

I’m not sure what a defensive back is supposed to do with that, except pray it never happens again, and try to delete it from the tape before it comes time to watch film the following week.

Heading into last year’s draft, Odunze was thought by many to be the clear No. 3 receiver in a loaded class behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers. But while Nabers has been the most productive of the trio so far, Odunze is having a much better start to his second season than anything we’ve seen so far from Harrison, who was widely regarded as possibly the best player in the entire class.

It may take some time for the whole offense to reach its full potential under Ben Johnson, but it’s clear they have something special in Odunze, and he’s barely scratching the surface of his potential.
