Caleb Williams loves being coached by Ben Johnson
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is a huge fan of Ben Johnson as his head coach, and it’s hard to blame him after last year’s staff.
The Chicago Bears landed the biggest prize of this year’s head-coaching carousel when they hired Ben Johnson after his impressive three-year run as the offensive coordinator for the division-rival Detroit Lions.
It’s hard to imagine anyone was happier about the move than Caleb Williams, the Bears’ franchise quarterback who was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Williams showed flashes of brilliance throughout his rookie season, but struggled through a roller-coaster year while clearly being held back by a lackluster coaching staff.
Five games into Johnson’s tenure as head coach, Williams is a big fan of the guy who’s calling the shots now:
Williams’ play has been much improved so far this season, and after an 0-2 start, the Bears have rattled off three straight wins to get back above .500, including a dramatic comeback win in the final moments Monday night on the road against the Washington Commanders.
It’s still early, but the combination of Johnson and Williams could be the foundation for a long championship window in Chicago.

QB + HC relationship is the most important any team could have. This is the first time (ever??) that the Bears finally got it right.
