Ben Johnson heaps praise on Bears DC Dennis Allen
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson loves what he’s seeing so far this season from defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
The Chicago Bears have seen steady improvement in multiple areas over the first five games of the 2025 season, and Ben Johnson is giving major credit to defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for spearheading that success on his side of the ball.
Speaking to the media this week, Johnson praised Allen for the confidence he’s giving the defensive players due to his game-planning and schematic prowess:
One of the big areas where the Bears defense has been successful is in the takeaway department, where they lead the league in turnovers per game:
Allen may have struggled as a head coach during his final years with the New Orleans Saints, but now that he’s back in the defensive coordinator role, he’s reminding everyone why he was always one of the league’s better defensive minds under Sean Payton.
The Bears are clearly happy to reap the rewards of his experience and expertise, and it’s safe to expect that unit will only get better over the rest of the season, barring injuries.
