Bears DC Dennis Allen loves C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s ‘attitude’
Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen loves the playing style new defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson brings to the table.
The Chicago Bears bolstered their secondary earlier this week with some valuable experience, signing veteran defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Gardner-Johnson has garnered a reputation for his hard-hitting style of play and knack for talking some trash on the field, and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is looking forward to that energy fueling his unit:
Gardner-Johnson played for Allen when the latter was coaching for the New Orleans Saints, so there’s plenty of familiarity there on both sides. Allen clearly knows what Gardner-Johnson brings to the table, and the versatile nickel/safety should have a strong handle on the scheme he’ll be asked to execute in Chicago.
For a defense that has struggled with consistency so far this season, and with the injuries they’ve racked up in the secondary, the Bears need all the help they can get on the back end.
