Bears’ knack for creating turnovers impacting Bengals’ Week 9 prep
The Chicago Bears lead the NFL in takeaways, and the Cincinnati Bengals are emphasizing ball security in practice this week.
The Chicago Bears have been among the NFL’s best defenses when it comes to taking the ball away so far this season, and the Cincinnati Bengals are well aware.
As they prepare for their Week 9 matchup against the Bears, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor admits that Chicago’s ability to create turnovers on defense is forcing them to place a greater emphasis on taking care of the ball:
Through the first eight weeks of the season, the Bears lead the league with 16 takeaways, logging 11 interceptions and recovering five fumbles. The offense has done a solid job avoiding turnovers so far this year, as well, leaving the Bears with a league-best plus-10 turnover differential.
Taylor and the Bengals clearly know that the key to victory this weekend is to protect the football. If they don’t, they won’t be surprised if the Bears take home the victory.
