This underrated Bears defender continues to shine in 2025
The Chicago Bears are getting some big numbers from an unsung hero in their defensive backfield this season.
The Chicago Bears have struggled with consistency on defense so far this season, thanks in large part to a long run of injuries across all three levels.
That includes the secondary, where multiple key starters have missed far too many games this year, testing the team’s depth across the defensive backfield. But those absences have also opened up opportunities for other players to emerge, and one of them has seized the moment.
One such player has been cornerback Nahshon Wright, who has racked up some ridiculous stats through the first 12 weeks of the year.
Just look at these numbers from Wright so far this year:
Originally a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, the Oregon State product, spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Bears ahead of the 2025 season. With injuries to Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon, Wright has stepped up opposite Tyrique Stevenson to become a reliable defender capable of creating big plays.
Wright has been a massive bright spot for a defense that is still trying to match what the offense has been bringing every week. Here’s hoping it continues as the Bears continue to chase a division title and a return to the postseason.

He’s going to cost quite a bit of $$ to bring back in 2026.
