Ben Johnson talks about rookie OT Ozzy Trapilo’s development

The Chicago Bears made a flurry of moves this offseason to bolster their lackluster offensive line, including a trio of veteran acquisitions via trade and free agency.

They also invested a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft into Boston College offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo.

Trapilo has carved out a significant role for himself throughout his rookie season, and earlier this week, Bears head coach Ben Johnson talked about his first-year deveopment:

Trapilo made his first career start last week at left tackle against the Steelers, and held his own for the most part against one of the more formidable defensive fronts in the NFL. Listed at 6-8 and 312 pounds, Trapilo’s massive frame and ridiculous wingspan give him a ton of upside as he continues to learn the finer points of the position.

The Bears already have one franchise player at right tackle in Darnell Wright, but it’ll be a huge win if Trapilo can develop into a similar presence on the left side.
