Caleb Williams explains lap around Soldier Field after Bears’ win over Packers
Caleb Williams explained the meaning behind his postgame lap around Soldier Field following the Bears’ win over the Packers and what it symbolized for the team.
Caleb Williams is the quarterback Chicago Bears fans have prayed for since… oh, I don’t know, forever?
Sure, Jim McMahon raised a Lombardi Trophy for Chicago, but that Super Bowl season — and the quality years that preceded and followed it — were always more about the defense than anything else.
McMahon was good; Williams has a chance to be the best QB the Bears have ever rostered.
Let’s face it: there are only a handful of quarterbacks on Earth who could drop this game-winning dime:
Williams is tracking to break the Bears’ single-season passing record, and he has Chicago one win away from clinching the NFC North in only his second year.
The physical gifts, the highlight plays, the sats, and, obviously, the wins, all add up to the special relationship that’s building between Caleb Williams and Bears fans, one that Williams acknowledged with a lap around Soldier Field after Saturday night’s win over the Packers.

“We put it out there this week that we needed the fans, that we want the fans to be proud to be a Chicago Bears fan, and so I wanted to give my thanks,” Williams said. “They were a big part of the game today. Like I said, when we go on the road or we’re home, I want them to travel well, I want them to be here, I want them to show out and I want them to be proud.
“I wanted to go around and give my thanks to them.”
What a time to be a Chicago Bears fan. Not only does this team have its first real franchise quarterback, but he’s also a dude who actually gets it. Williams understands that Bears fans are the fuel that makes the engine go.
A lap around Soldier Field, from the Bears’ starting quarterback, after an overtime win against the Packers in a game that all but won the NFC North? Yep, Caleb Williams is that dude.
