Bears WR Rome Odunze opens up about his mindset during injury recovery
Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze discussed his mindset during injury recovery, opening up about how he has handled the process mentally
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze has missed the last four games with a stress fracture in his foot. It’s been a big blow to the Bears’ offense, which relied on Odunze as the go-to receiver in the passing game for the first half of the season.
Indeed, Odunze’s absence created more opportunities for rookies Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland, both of whom have starred.
But for Caleb Williams and the offense to reach Super Bowl heights, Odunze has to get back on the field — and at full strength.
Odunze spoke about his injury recovery and the toll it’s taken on him on Friday.

“It’s definitely not for me,” Odunze said. “It’s tough to not play. I don’t think I’ve been out this long in a while. So it’s definitely a challenge.

“Obviously, there’ve been some up and down weeks with what I’ve been dealing with. Just kind of going through those things. Obviously, not playing on Sundays is tough when I have the passion for the game that I do.”
Rome Odunze was on track to set a career high in yards and receptions before getting injured. He enters Week 18 with 44 catches for 661 yards and a career-best six scores. He’s listed as questionable for the game, and if the Chicago Bears are smart, they’ll sit him for another week so he’s 100% recovered for the wild-card round.
