Despite a strong season from D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, the Chicago Bears were dubbed a perfect fit for this top free-agent RB.

The Chicago Bears are focused only on one thing right now: defeating the Green Bay Packers next Saturday night in the NFC Wild Card round.

But life comes at you fast in the NFL. And the offseason for all 32 teams — the Bears included — will be here before you know it.

And when it does arrive, teams like the Bears will have an opportunity to add the few missing pieces in free agency to go from a playoff team to a very real Super Bowl contender.

One of the biggest 2026 free agents will be New York Jets running back Breece Hall. And he was recently connected to the Bears in a breakdown of his five best landing spots.

“The Bears are yet another high-powered offense that could get in the mix for Hall’s services, as he’d fill the Jahmyr Gibbs role from head coach Ben Johnson’s days in Detroit,” Sports Illustrated’s Nick Raducanu wrote. “While both D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai are still under contract for next season, the Bears could find a way to move Swift to make a spot for Hall. Like Kansas City and Minnesota, Chicago would be a great fantasy football destination for Hall.”

Chicago Bears unlikely to target RB this offseason

Last year this time, Bears fans would’ve been all for adding Breece Hall — or any of the other big-name free-agent running backs in this year’s class. Remember: D’Andre Swift was coming off a down year, and the only young option on the roster was Roschon Johnson.

That’s not the case anymore.

Swift enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025. He ended the year with 223 carries for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged a fantastic 4.9 yards per carry, also a career high.

Joining Swift in the Bears’ running game was rookie Kyle Monangai, who was one of the biggest surprises of Chicago’s season.

The rookie seventh-round pick was one of the most productive first-year runners in the league, and his outlook for 2026 is as high as any young prospect at the position.

So while fantasy football managers might hope for Breece Hall to sign with the Chicago Bears, don’t hold your breath.
