Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson saw exactly what he hoped to see from quarterback Caleb Williams in the team’s Week 2 preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Chicago won the game,38-0, and Williams looked every bit the part of a franchise QB.

It was fun watching Williams silence his critics in a nationally televised game. However, the All-22 can sometimes tell a different story.

In this case, it didn’t. Williams was a stud. He earned an 80.0 BearsTalk Grade (BTG) after completing 6-of-10 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in two series of work. His grade is equal to a ‘great’ score on the BTG scale (range of 80.0-89.9).

Tyson Bagent had a strong outing against the Bills as well. He finished with a 66.7 BTG after completing 13-of-22 passes for 196 yards and one TD.

The Chicago Bears’ QB room is as exciting as it’s ever been over the last 20 years, with two young quarterbacks who are inspiring confidence. Williams, as a franchise player; Bagent, as a long-term backup.

Williams is the big takeaway, however. He needed a strong showing to build momentum as the regular season approaches, and to silence some of his loudest critics.

Yep, mission accomplished.
