If anyone knows what it takes to be a successful quarterback at the NFL level, it’s Tom Brady.

The undisputed GOAT of the game’s most important position, Brady recently had a discussion with NBC’s Cris Collinsworth about the Chicago Bears, centering about how Ben Johnson can help get the most out of quarterback Caleb Williams.

Acknowledging Williams’ rare talent, Brady pointed to the work Johnson did for the Detroit Lions in developing Jared Goff into one of the better quarterbacks in the league as evidence for why he can maximize Williams’ rare talent and help him become a true franchise passer in Chicago:

Johnson turned the Lions’ offense into one of the most dynamic and explosive units in the league as their offensive coordinator, and helped Goff go from mediocre afterthought to a legitimate MVP candidate, as Brady points out.

Now in Chicago, Johnson has the opportunity to work with another No. 1 overall pick in Williams, who brings more upside and better physical tools to the table than Goff. After struggling under a lackluster coaching staff throughout his rocky rookie season, Williams should see immediate improvement, as well as a better chance of reaching his lofty ceiling as he develops within Johnson’s scheme.

Williams will also have the benefit of a loaded group of weapons (Rome Odunze, D.J. Moore, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland), and an improved offensive line that boasts multiple veteran additions acquired this offseason via trade and free agency.

All of those upgrades should translate to a breakout season for Williams, which could make the Bears a sneaky playoff contender in 2025, despite playing in one of the toughest divisions in the entire NFL.
