Phil Simms can’t say enough good things about Caleb Williams
Super Bowl champion QB Phil Simms is raving about Caleb Williams’ ability, and can’t believe those who gave up on his talent after just one season.
After he struggled through an inconsistent rookie season, there were plenty of doubters who were ready to give up on Caleb Williams as the first true franchise quarterback in Chicago Bears history.
Three games into his sophomore campaign, and his first with new head coach Ben Johnson running the offense, Williams has looked every bit the part of the rare talent they drafted No. 1 overall out of USC last year.
Appearing on “The Kay Adams Show,” legendary New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms couldn’t stop raving about Williams’ ability, and chided those who gave up on him after his rookie season:
Williams had a solid start to the season despite the Bears losing each of their first two games, but he exploded in last week’s dominant home win over the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.
Simms may not have had Williams’ talent as a passer and a playmaker, but he’s a two-time Super Bowl champ, and that’s a club Williams will hope to join as soon as possible as the Bears’ franchise quarterback.
