Bears are dominating on 3rd down to start the 2025 season
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears offense keep moving the chains on third down, despite some challenging circumstances.
Plenty of things have gone wrong for the Chicago Bears so far this season, but their ability to convert third-down situations on offense definitely isn’t one of them.
Led by new head coach Ben Johnson and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears are among the NFL’s best offenses at converting third-down opportunities, despite the fact that they’re usually facing longer distances than most teams in those scenarios:
It definitely helps to have an offensive genius like Johnson calling the shots, and a rare talent like Williams taking the snaps, as well as a loaded group of dynamic weapons who can make big plays every time the ball comes their way.
If the Bears can keep this up, they should be able to build on their two-game winning streak, leaving behind their ugly 0-2 start and pushing to make a potential playoff run down the stretch.
I’m sure Johnson wouldn’t be mad if they could get into shorter third-down situations more often moving forward, though.
