Ben Johnson loves Caleb Williams’ knack for rising to the challenge in big games
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson is a big fan of Caleb Williams’ ability to play his best football in the most important moments.
If there’s one thing Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams knows how to do, it’s play his best football in the most important moments, and head coach Ben Johnson is a big fan of that trait.
We saw it once again in Monday night’s road win over the Washington Commanders, as Williams played through rainy conditions to lead the Bears to a dramatic victory in the final moments. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick consistently made sound decisions, taking care of the football while making huge plays in clutch moments throughout the game.
Speaking to the media Wednesday, Johnson lauded his quarterback’s ability to rise to the occasion in the biggest games and the most critical moments:
Williams’ combination of poise and playmaking ability is a huge reason why the Bears have rattled off three straight wins after an 0-2 start, and why opposing teams won’t be happy to see them coming in the future.
For a player who many wanted to give up on after an up-and-down rookie season with a lackluster coaching staff and a struggling supporting cast, Williams has clearly impressed the new staff, and he’s been a much-improved franchise passer in his second NFL campaign.
