The Chicago Bears got a much-needed overhaul of their coaching staff this past offseason, with Ben Johnson taking over after three years as the offensive coordinator for the division-rival Detroit Lions.

There have been some marked improvements on the field for the Bears so far this season, as is evidenced by the four-game winning streak that was finally snapped last week.

Those improvements start with a bigger emphasis on discipline during the week in practice, as wide receiver Rome Odunze noted when he spoke to the media this week:

Johnson clearly knows that practice habits always pour over onto game day, and if things aren’t getting corrected on the practice field during the week, those same problems are going to lead to losses when it matters.

The Bears will be looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens when they take on another AFC North foe this week, the Cincinnati Bengals. Perhaps the frustration of snapping their winning streak will lead to more attention to detail in practice this week, and lead to a better result on game day.
