Ben Johnson’s massive impact on Bears’ offense continues
The Chicago Bears are getting exactly what they hoped for when they hired Ben Johnson as their new head coach.
When the Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson to be their head coach, they had high expectations that he would elevate their offense to new heights.
After all, that’s exactly what he’d done for the division-rival Detroit Lions for the three seasons prior as their offensive coordinator.
The early returns suggest that Johnson is living up to the hype, as the Bears’ offensive numbers through the first half of the 2025 regular season show massive improvement from recent years:
Johnson’s unit is proving to be capable of balance between the run and pass game, as well as the ability to create explosive plays down the field. Caleb Williams has shown marked growth in his second season as the starting quarterback, and the Bears are proving they can put up points with any team in the league.
We’ll have to see if these early trends continue long-term, but for now, it sure looks like the Bears nailed this hire.
