Ben Johnson has jokes about Caleb Williams’ athleticism
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson loves that Caleb Williams’ ability to escape pressure makes him look good when plays break down.
One of the Caleb Williams’ most valuable skills as the Chicago Bears’ quarterback is his ability to create big plays with his elusiveness, and head coach Ben Johnson loves it.
Speaking to the media this week, Johnson joked about Williams’ playmaking ability being a reflection of his prowess as a play-caller, before lauding his quarterback for that escapability:
There’s no denying that Johnson is one of the best play-callers in the league right now, but Williams’ ability to go off-script when necessary makes his life much easier. Johnson can trust that when things don’t go to plan, Williams can bail them out with a creative play.
Now sitting at 6-3, the Bears have benefitted greatly from Johnson’s arrival as their head coach. The same is true of Williams’ development in his second NFL season, as he continues to look like the franchise player they drafted him to be at No. 1 overall last year.
Let’s hope both Johnson and Williams can keep the positive momentum going this week against the Minnesota Vikings.
