Chicago Bears lock up No. 2 seed in NFC playoffs despite loss to Lions
The Chicago Bears lost to the Detroit Lions in Week 18, but they maintained a top seed in the 2025 playoffs thanks to the Eagles.
The Chicago Bears lost another heartbreaker in Week 18 to the Detroit Lions. This time, it was the Lions kicking a game-winning field goal with time expiring to give Detroit the 19-16 win.
While it would’ve certainly been more uplifting to enter the Wild Card round with a win, the Bears are still the No. 2 seed, thanks to the Washington Commanders defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-17.
It all now means that the Bears will host the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card round, and they’re guaranteed a second home game in the playoffs if they advance.
The Bears are taking a two-game losing streak into the 2025 playoffs, but it isn’t like they’ve played poorly. Their Week 16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers came down to the final play, as did Sunday’s loss to the Lions.
