Rome Odunze explains postgame celebration that left Ben Johnson on the ground

The Chicago Bears’ legendary comeback Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers Saturday night generated a reaction from Bears fans that was 100 years in the making.

It was the first Bears’ modern playoff win over the Packers, after all.

Soldier Field lost its mind, with Amazon Prime announcer Al Michaels saying at one point that he could feel the stadium shaking.

Bears fans weren’t the only ones who lost their minds. Bears players did, too.

Check out this post-game reaction from Chicago Bears wideout Rome Odunze. It may have been his biggest hit of the night. Unfortunately, the victim was coach Ben Johnson.

Odunze ended the game with two catches for 44 yards, including what will go down in Bears history as one of the biggest plays of all-time.

Rome Odunze explained the pancake celebration after the game.

“I told him I’m sorry,” Odunze said. “I didn’t mean to knock him down like that. I was just excited. I thought he was a little bit more athletic than I was (laughs). That’s my bad. I got a little too excited, but no, that’s my guy. I didn’t mean to bring him down. I owe him something for that.”

As long as Odunze keeps making big catches in critical moments, he has nothing to apologize for.
