Caleb Williams has done some remarkable things in just two seasons with the Chicago Bears. He set the franchise’s single-season passing record this year with 3,942 yards, and with his Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers, he already has more victories against the Bears’ arch-rival than Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields combined.

Add the fact that the Chicago Bears have one of the worst histories at quarterback — no Bears QB has ever thrown for 4,000 yards in a season — and it’s fair to already start asking if Williams is the best the team has ever fielded.

Sure, there’s Jim McMahon, the punky QB who led the 1985 Bears to a Super Bowl win. He’ll always have a special place in Bears fans’ hearts because of that Lombardi season.

But from a talent, upside, and long-term projection standpoint? It’s hard to argue against Williams being the best the Bears have ever had.

It’s an opinion that isn’t being advanced only by Bears fans, either. Former All-Pro defensive lineman and current NFL Network personality Gerald McCoy already declared Caleb Williams as the Bears’ best ever.

McCoy ripped through the stats and made a very convincing case.

If Caleb Williams topples the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional round, he’ll take one step closer to actually being that guy.
