NFL Draft
REPORT: Bears would need HISTORIC compensation to trade No. 1 pick
It doesn’t appear like the Chicago Bears will trade the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft anytime soon.
The Chicago Bears are expected to make a significant trade (again) this offseason. However, we don’t know whether that trade will involve the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft or quarterback Justin Fields.
If the Bears keep the pick, they will likely select USC quarterback Caleb Williams. And, if they keep the pick, Fields will be dealt to the highest bidder.
We may have gained some clarity on which way GM Ryan Poles is leaning on Saturday.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chicago Bears would need “historic compensation” to trade the first pick.
“Chicago would need a historic haul of draft picks and overall compensation to move off the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, sources say,” Rapoport wrote. “In the words of one source, it would have to be “crazy.””
