The Chicago Bears are having a difficult time trading quarterback Justin Fields this offseason. Finding a suitor became an even more complicated process on Thursday when the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks traded for Desmond Ridder and Sam Howell, respectively.

Both the Cardinals and Seahawks were clearly in the market for a young, ascending quarterback to sit behind their veteran starters but opted to go in a different direction, leaving Fields in limbo.

In fact, several predicted suitors for Fields’ services have gone in different directions. They include the Pittsburgh Steelers (Russell Wilson), Las Vegas Raiders (Gardner Minshew), Atlanta Falcons (Kirk Cousins), and New England Patriots (Jacoby Brissett), among others. Although the options are dwindling by the day, we’ve identified three teams that should still consider acquiring Fields in a trade.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Eagles lost backup quarterback Marcus Mariota to free agency earlier this week. Mariota signed a one-year contract to join their NFC East rival Washington Commanders. Mariota’s departure leaves Tanner McKee as the backup quarterback behind Jalen Hurts. McKee couldn’t beat out an underperforming Mariota for the role last season. Acquiring the athletic Fields would give the Eagles offense more of a like-for-like replacement for Hurts should he suffer an injury.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Veteran backup Blaine Gabbert is a free agent and has yet to re-sign with the Chiefs. The position behind Patrick Mahomes isn’t a huge cause for concern, but surely Andy Reid won’t enter the 2024 campaign with Chris Oladokun or Ian Book as the No. 2. The Chiefs are a little strapped for salary cap flexibility, but Fields’ 2024 salary is manageable.

LOS ANGELES RAMS

Rams head coach Sean McVay has at least considered Matthew Stafford’s eventual successor. That’s why he was willing to draft a quarterback in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Stetson Bennett’s status is unclear moving forward after the former Georgia quarterback was placed on the reserve/NFI list. McVay is a brilliant, offensive-minded leader who recently helped revive Baker Mayfield’s flailing career. As he begins putting the pieces back together, Los Angeles would be a terrific landing spot for Fields.
