2023 NFL Schedule: Bears to host Panthers in Week 10 Thursday night matchup (News)
Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears’ 2024 schedule is out, and while plenty of exciting games are on tap, not every contest will be a thriller.

Here’s a look at three Bears games that will be tough to watch this year.

Week 5 vs Panthers

The only reason this game has any merit is the Panthers’ 2025 second-round pick, which the Bears received as part of the 2023 trade involving the number one overall pick. A Bears win would improve that future pick, which could be a top-35 pick. Currently, the Panthers are tied for the lowest projected win total at 5.5.

While Carolina has made some improvements to help second-year quarterback Bryce Young, he will still be facing an uphill battle against a Bears team that gave him fits last year and has improved considerably on the offensive side. If the Bears can score points early, the Young will have a tough time playing catchup. The Bears should win this game comfortably.

Week 10 vs Patriots

The Patriots brought in veteran QB Jacoby Brissett, who is expected to start the season. This could change if Drake Maye goes on an absolute heater in training camp and the preseason, but early indications do not point in that direction. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo recently stated that Maye has “a lot to work on” coming out of rookie mini-camp, which led many to question whether the Patriots got the right guy.

Outside of the quarterback position, the Patriots lack star power. This feels like a forgettable game that might be a blip in the overall season.

Week 14 @ Cardinals

On paper, this looks like a thrilling matchup with the new Bears’ offensive weapons going up against Kyler Murray and new wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. However, the concern with Arizona is always the health of Kyler Murray. Murray’s total games played have decreased every season since 2020. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2022 and was limited to just eight games last year.

If Murray is banged up by Week 14, Bears fans will be forced to watch Desmond Ridder or Clayton Tune instead. Couple that with this game being sandwiched between two Thursday night games against the Lions and Vikings, and this could be one that Bears fans might not be as excited about.
